It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Victor, at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto, on Thursday January 29, 2015, in his 95th year.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his sister Dorothy Peterson, sister-in law Kay Amos, nieces Carol Unraw (Harvey), Glenna Stelzer (Bob), nephew David Hammersley (Sonja) and many great nephews in the GTA (John Hammersley, Paul Hammersley (Carmen), Robert Stelzer (Haley), Michael Hammersley and David Stelzer). Victor was predeceased by his brother John Walter “Jack” (1989), and his parents Walter Hammersley and Harriett Berry.
Victor was a long time employee at the Robert Simpson Company and was a 25 year plus volunteer at Scarborough General Hospital. He was a long time member of The Church of the Resurrection and the Scarborough Baptist Church. Vic had a passion for golf, bowling, painting & bible studies.
A private family internment service will be held at St. John's Norway Cemetery on Saturday, January 31st. A memorial service to remember Victor is to be held at a later date. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto or the Salvation Army.
