Vilma Rivas

Vilma Rivas passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024 at the age of 96. She is now reunited with her husband of 72 years, Salvador, who preceded her in death earlier this year. Vilma will be deeply missed by her two daughters Beatrice Harris (Al Harris) and Lucila Rivas. Affectionately know as Tilina by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Carlos Romero (Natalie Romero), Jennifer Monroy (Francisco Monroy), Kyle Whitney and Melissa Hunt (Ryan Hunt) as well as her great-grandchildren Tyson, Janelle, Gabriela, Adrian, Mia, Jackson and Levi. 

Vilma will always be remembered by her fierce loyalty and her contagious laugh. Born and raised in El Salvador, she later immigrated to Canada with Salvador where they built a beautiful life together and raised their family. While she cherished the life they created in Canada, her heart remained in El Salvador, where she lovingly tended to her gardens filled with vibrant flowers, plants and fruit trees. 

Tilina found joy in caring for her family, often expressing her love through the warm meals she prepared with so much care and devotion. Her home was a place where love and generosity abounded - you never left without feeling nourished, both in body and in spirit. She loved music and she was always humming, singing or dancing to her favourite songs. She especially adored her great-grandchildren, delighting in showering them with chocolates, small gifts, and endless affection. 

Vilma was a strong, faithful woman whose loyalty knew no bounds. She fiercely protected her family and gave her love unconditionally to those fortunate enough to receive it. Her strength and faith were constants in her life, and now she has been called home to God. To be loved by Tilina was a true blessing, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 

Jésus, me entrego por completo a Ti: Tú eres mi Universo. Entre tus llagas escóndeme para vivir y morir en ellas, sin lamentar el pasado, sin mirar el porvenir y completamente resignada a tu santísima voluntad. 

Mass will be held on December 6th at 1:00pm at St. Francis Xavier Church located at 5650 Mavis Road, Mississauga, ON L5V 2X5.
