It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Waldemar (Valdi) Jaros, 72, who died suddenly on January 31, 2024.
Waldemar leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Danuta, daughter Magda, son-in-law Jason, his grandson Mateusz (his favourite person in the world), his niece Laura, three siblings and their children, and many friends.
Waldemar loved his family and made many sacrifices to ensure his family’s success both in his home country and after immigrating to Canada. He had many friends and loved spending time with them.
A Civil Engineer by profession, Waldemar’s true passion was European history and politics. He was a great storyteller who captured his audience’s attention because of his knowledge and his passion. Unsurprisingly, Waldemar was a great patriot whose wish was to be buried in his home country of Poland. And so his remains will be transported back to Poland where he’ll be buried in the family tomb.
A Funeral Service in Ottawa took place on February 13, 2024 at 11 am at Hope Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the emergency room team at The Ottawa Hospital General Campus who did a tremendous job trying to save Waldemar’s life and taking care of his family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, we’d like to ask for donations to the The University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Waldemar will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.
