Walter Horbulyk

February 4, 1933 — May 22, 2015

Walter (Wally) Horbulyk born February 4, 1933 passed peacefully on Friday May 22, 2015.  His childhood was spent in the Ashville, Manitoba area, but he longed for greener fields and, adventure.  He moved to Toronto in the late 1950’s and made it his home.  He owned his own taxi license, and drove cab for more than 45 years. He owned a race horse for a time.  He trained as a pilot and purchased his own airplane.  He is survived by his sister Jean Stewart of Ladysmith, B.C., and his brother Mike Horbulyk, of Burnaby, B.C.  He was predeceased by his older brother Nick, and his sister Helen (Nechka) and his parents, Annie and Jacob.  He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.  His niece Mel, summed him up best when she said, “We've lost the ‘crazy dazzle" in the family.”  He had a great wit, an infectious laugh and an abundance of charm when it suited him to turn it on. He let few in but will be missed by those he did. Farewell friend and uncle.
Gifts can be made to support his nephew George Stewart who is recovering from a near fatal car crash.   The following link goes directly to the funding site:  http://www.gofundme.com/rg2t25w.
