On December 12, 2022 William Joseph (Bill) Hurd passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family: daughter Susan, sons Larry and John and daughter-in-law Wendy.
Bill returned home to Canada in August 2021 after living in California for nearly 40 years. He was an avid sailor, golfer, and photographer and California provided the perfect backdrop for his retirement.
Bill was born in Toronto where is father Joseph set up the local Meat Market on Eglinton Ave. East near Bayview. He attended Bessborough Public School and graduated from Leaside High School in 1950. After a successful career in sales and marketing and raising a family Bill moved to California with his second wife Marie in 1982.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Marie as well as Lenore, (mother of his children). Blessings to Rita in California for her love and compassion toward Bill (words are not sufficient!). Upon his return to Canada many more “angels” would grace his being. We extend huge gratitude to daughter-in-law Wendy (PSW) for travelling to California to fly home with Bill. Bill was also fortunate to reconnect with family back home, specifically his sister Joyce and brother Bob. Finally, we give sincere thanks to Janet (a care giver extraordinaire!). His final residence: Southlake Village in Newmarket was home to many more angels; too many to name! Rest in peace William Hurd – a life well lived!
Family and close friends will gather on May 13th, 2023 for a private service.
In lieu of flowers please donate to The Canadian Cancer Society.
