William (Bill) Mercer Badley, born April 30, 1939, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side in Kemptville, Ontario, on April 15, 2022. Bill fought his way back to an amazingly good quality of life after his initial cancer diagnosis in 2019, and he maintained it determinedly until a sudden decline only recently.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Deanna (Ingram) Badley. Together they raised their family in Kanata, Ontario. He was lucky enough to find a second chance at love and is survived by his partner of 15 years (wife for 11 of those) Sandie, with whom he shared his idyllic retirement in the country, along with various pets and a coop full of chickens. He was a cherished father to Jared (Shawna) and Erica (Mark), and grandfather to Emily, Katelynn, Brayden, Sage and Harris.
Bill enjoyed tinkering around the farm, making maple syrup in the spring, taking the occasional trip with his family, and doing semi-annual runs to Florida with his friend Ric. He was a diehard Ottawa Senators fan.
A drop-in-style celebration of life will be held on April 30, 2022, at the Beth Donovan Hospice (1107 French Settlement Road, Kemptville, Ontario), between the hours of 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome. Masks are mandatory at the facility, and we request that attendees perform a Covid rapid test before coming to help keep everyone safe. There will be a limited number of tests onsite for those who cannot access any at their homes. There is some outdoor space to mingle in as well, weather permitting, to allow for greater distancing between attendees.
