Bill passed away peacefully in his residence at Copernicus Lodge on December 27, 2022 from covid-related complications. He was the son of much-loved parents Joseph and Jessie Harwood (deceased), brother of Charles (deceased) (Sonia). and younger brother to sister Lily Moysiuk (John). He was a wonderful uncle to William (Satwinder), Andrew (Nancy) and Alice Hilchey and their families.
After High School Graduation, he entered the Publishing Business where he worked as a distributor during his entire working life. He received several awards for his outstanding salesmanship.
He loved the outdoors--camping, family barbeques, canoeing, fishing, swimming and scuba diving. In addition, he was an avid gardener, and with his friend, Andrew tended a large community garden lot.
His interest in politics led to his working as a Returning Officer during many elections, both Provincial and Federal.
Being an outgoing person, he was genuinely interested in the lives of others, He was generous helpful and kind and a loyal friend to many. He will be missed by family and friends, and especially by his sister, Lily.
Cremation has taken place. At Bill's request there was no visitation or service. A graveside service is planned in the Spring or Summer for the internment of his remains.at the Riverside Cemetery.
Grateful thanks to the Staff at Copernicus Lodge, to the Home Care personnel and to the Personal Support Workers from Care Partners, who assisted him with compassion and understanding.
