William “Bill” WOOD – At 91 years of age, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Bill is described as someone who was larger than life and lived life his way, right to the end. Born in County Durham, England, Bill was proud of his English heritage. Conscripted as a Bevin Boy to work in the coal mines at the age of 18 to support the war effort, Bill was an entrepreneur at heart. While working in the coal mines, he also started his businesses that included window washing, making and selling candy apples and more. After seven years in the coal mines, Bill emigrated to Canada in 1955, where he met his lifetime dancing partner and beloved wife, Agnes (deceased), in Toronto. Together Agnes and Bill built several successful businesses, including Custom Paint Supply Co, Across Canada, and Abbey Manufacturing. Memories of Bill performing as a clown, dressing up in costumes, telling jokes, and ballroom dancing are cherished by his family and friends. Dear father of Heather (Robert), David (deceased), and Neil and grandfather to Tatiana, Cameron, Grant, and Laurence. He is fondly remembered by his loving family in the United Kingdom and friends in Florida. The family is grateful to the staff at Parkland On The Glen in Mississauga for their kindness and support during Bill’s final days. At Bill’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
Should friends wish to express sympathy, the family suggests making a donation to Diabetes Canada or the Heart And Stroke Foundation in Bill's name. Alternatively, friends may choose to plant a memorial tree in memory of Bill.
