Yuri Anton 1950 – 2021

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Yuri Anton. Yuri passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on April 28, 2021 leaving behind his beloved life partner of 20 years, Teresa Nowak, and her two children Sylvia and Ron, who loved him dearly. Teresa’s grandchildren, Tiffany, and Reid will miss “Grandpa Yuri” very much.

Yuri was born in Russia. He studied at the National University, Lvivska Politekhnika, in Ukraine and received his degree in Electro - Mechanical Engineering. He emigrated to Canada and soon after joined MDRobotics where his team would go on to receive an Award for Excellence for “The Triceratops Encounter Design” project for the Jurassic Park movie, and more importantly, as a member of the Orbiter Project, for their work on the Space Shuttle’s Canada Arm. Yuri’s strive for excellences was visible throughout every aspect of his life.

Yuri had many passions. He loved photography and would spend countless hours perfecting his art. Yuri diligently looked through the view finder to find the perfect compositions, and the perfect shot.

Yuri was an avid table tennis player. Being among the best was not enough for him, so he started coaching to help others improve their skills. To Yuri, mastering his craft was rewarding, but helping others achieve their goals was even more rewarding.

Yuri had many hobbies, the most important one being dancing, because while he was taking classes, he met Teresa. This was the start of a beautiful period in his and Teresa’s life. They became true life partners.

Yuri and Teresa shared a passion for skiing, and spent many weekends at Mount St. Louis Moonstone, practicing and preparing for their big trips to the Rocky Mountains. Being outdoors, on skis, with Teresa was his favorite pastime. Yuri had a great outlook on life. He was always positive and inspiring and had a passion to live life to the fullest. He had a kind heart and was always there to help others.

We will miss him dearly.
