St. James’ Cemetery and Crematorium

St. James Cemetery and Crematorium is part of The Cathedral Church of St. James and is the oldest operating cemetery in Toronto having opened in 1844. The cemetery is home to a beautiful church-like chapel that is a perfect location for funerals and memorial services. The chapel provides seating for 170 people but isn’t so big that a smaller service can’t be held very comfortably.

Director’s Notes

A beautiful historic space with a traditional feel.

Hours of Operation

Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Saturday 8:00am to 12:00pm

Capacity: 170 people

Fee: $360.00/hour
$232.00/half hour

The chapel at St. James is a fine example High Victorian Gothic design and has been designated a National Historic Site. Its sense of strength and spirituality is derived from the subtle contrast of its stone walls, enveloping roofs, and soaring spire.
