Scattering Cremated Remains Creatively

Volkswagen, purveyors of iconic vehicles like the Beetle and Vanagon, demonstrates one of the benefits of cremation (albeit in a way intended to push the newest member of their fleet…) A family comes together to embark on a cross-country road trip in order to scatter their grandfather’s cremated remains. Together, they take in breathtaking scenery while (ostensibly) reflecting on a life well lived. It culminates with the group at the edge of the ocean, scattering the cremated remains into the wind.

Regardless of whether or not you buy into the consumerism that comes with advertising, the argument for cremation is a strong one. Not only is it low-cost, it offers the kind of flexibility that allows for families to come together at their convenience to honour their loved one in a way that they see fit.

As the funeral services industry continues to evolve, people will see increased offerings that promote customization and creativity. We encourage the families that we serve to think outside the box, whether it be to cross Canada for a scattering ceremony or to throw a massive celebration of life party in an art gallery. At the end of the day, it’s entirely up to you.
