Arranging a funeral can be hard. At Basic Funerals, our aim is to make it a lot easier. Skip the information overload and read on to learn about the funeral arrangement meeting, simplified.
Spend some time exploring your options. Did you loved one pre-plan their funeral? Did they express a preference towards cremation or traditional burial? Were they a part of a community that would influence the service? Don’t worry if you don’t have the answers- a great funeral director will be able to steer you in the right direction.
Determine who has been named executor. This person will be responsible for making the big decisions, for signing the documents, and for settling the estate. In some instances, an executor is named before a death takes place or the responsibility can fall on the legal next of kin. Being an executor is a lot of work and it’s important to know what’s expected of you. If you have any questions, we’re here to help.
Funeral costs can quickly add up. Before beginning the arrangement process, ask for a quote so that you aren’t taken by surprise. Ask the funeral director to break down the costs for you and don’t hesitate to ask questions. You have a right to know where your money is going and often, you’ll find that you can save a significant amount by trimming unnecessary expenditures. The best funerals aren’t the most expensive ones, don’t let yourself be guilted into believing otherwise.
It’s a good idea to put together a list of things you want before going into the arrangement meeting. Include things like music, pictures, flowers, reception plans, etc. This way, you’ll save time and ensure that nothing gets forgotten. That being said, if you don’t know what you want, there’s no need to worry. Contact us to find out more and let us help you out.
