Frequently Asked Questions about Basic Funerals and Funeral Arrangements

  • Is Basic Funerals a Funeral Home?

When it comes to funeral arrangement, your loved one deserves the best. So, is Basic Funerals a funeral home? Yes. Basic Funerals is a licensed funeral establishment in Ontario. Our license means we that are allowed to perform any and all funeral services with our licensed Ontario funeral directors.

What makes us different is that we don’t own or operate a traditional funeral home location. By not having to maintain our own property, we realize significant cost savings which we then pass on to the families we serve.

  • How Does Basic Funerals Compare to Other Funeral Service Providers?

At Basic Funerals, we make arranging a funeral simple and affordable. We take the time to understand the families that we serve and ensure that your every need is met. We believe in the importance of holding a funeral service in a meaningful location, not in a funeral home chapel.

  • What's the Difference Between a Funeral Home and a Transfer Service?

When it comes to making funeral arrangements, there are several things to consider when comparing funeral homes and transfer services. Transfer services, like funeral homes, have licensed funeral directors working for them who are able to transfer the deceased from the location of death into their care and handle all the necessary documentation required to register a death and carry out a burial or cremation.

One of the main differences between the two services is that that transfer service funeral directors are not permitted to provide or attend a funeral service or visitation. As such, they are also unable to embalm or prepare the body for the funeral or visitation.

At Basic Funerals, we are proud to be able to provide you with the best of both worlds. Our funeral directors are fully licensed which means that we can assist you though every step of the funeral arrangement process from the time that the death takes place to finalizing the estate and everything in between. We provide exceptional care and service at a reasonable cost without sacrificing quality.
